The Poet:

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) wrote 1775 poems - all but a small handful were published posthumously. Her poems feature vision and bold, experimental flourish that was well before her time. Her poems were never titled, but preeminent Dickinson scholar, Thomas H. Johnson, edited her poems chronologically, thus the number system with which the world has become familiar.

The Project:

Capturing the words of Dickinson's poetry in the images around us, hoping to let her vision take flight in the minds of many.

The Pilgrim:

My name is Melissa, and I'm a long-time admirer of Emily Dickinson's life and poetry. This project emerged on a day when I was feeling as though my life was running out of purposes - so I reflected upon Dickinson's poem 254: 'Hope is the thing with feathers...' and the project was born. I choose poems based on how I am feeling on that given day, rather than chronologically as they were written. So in a way, this is my diary through Emily's words, Emily's world.
